VOLUME (Voices of Lucia Mar for Education) is a grass roots coalition of parents, teachers and students committed to constructive ideas for positive action in the Lucia Mar School District. We strive to keep our members well informed of the proceedings of our school board, and to promote transparency and excellent communication between the district and the community it serves.
The goals of VOLUME are to:
• Help the community stay well informed of the issues and decisions affecting students, teachers and families in the Lucia Mar school district
• Support the efforts of the school board and district administrators to provide the most advantageous learning environments for all students of diverse interests, skills and abilities
• Ensure that all stakeholders—students, parents, teachers, administrators, community members, district leaders, school board trustees—have a voice that is valued in the Lucia Mar Unified School District
• Advocate for genuine transparency, clarity of vision, and clear communication in all district activities
VOLUME holds periodic Roundtable Discussions with key leaders to encourage the exchange of ideas in an interactive format, dialog that is not possible at school board meetings. Past speakers have included Superintendent, Jim Hogeboom, School Board President, Vicki Meagher, Assistant Superintendent of Business Raynee Daley, Nipomo High School Principal, John Denno, Lucia Mar Unified Teachers Association leaders, Donna Kandel and Bill Ridge, Superintendent Raynee Daley and cabinet members, and PTA, PTO and Boosters leaders from the Lucia Mar schools.
